What is Medicare?
Medicare is health insurance for people who are 65 or older. Although there are exceptions for adults with disabilities. (Such as ESRD or ALS). Signing up for Medicare can be confusing and, some would say, overwhelming. At Gingerich Insurance, we want to ensure you have all the right coverage for your medical needs.
We understand the Medicare plans and know how to navigate the system. We invest time with each client we serve to ensure that they have the entire network of doctors they need and the hospital they prefer and that the prescription drug plan they enroll in covers all their prescriptions and their preferred pharmacy.

How Does Medicare Work?
Well, it’s complicated. To start, you’ll need to sign up for Part A or Part B; you can make choices about these each year and add or amend your prescription drug coverage. It’s important to note that Medicare isn’t the same as private insurance; it only offers plans for individuals; it does not offer programs for couples or families; the benefit is that you don’t have to make the same choices as your spouse and you can personalize your coverage to what you need.
Unfortunately, the process only starts there; we constantly get calls about how challenging the Medicare enrollment process is. After the initial sign-up process, you’ll need to navigate Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage (Part C), and Prescription Drug Plans. (Part D).
The process can get even more confusing when you have Medicare and other health insurance (like health insurance provided through your employer).
